OLD PORT COVE UPDATE

Hot off the press... Old Port Cove Holdings aka Old Port Cove Marina and Yacht Club just got the go ahead from property owners of Old Port Cove for construction of new facilities which will include a new Restaurant. Stay tuned for more...

Common Courtesy...

I have noticed a far too common occurrence at many of our social dinners, i.e.1st Fridays, but especially away on boating weekends. Frequently a number of boaters will travel to a location close enough that a fair number of our members will drive up for on Saturday afternoons, and our dinner party may number upwards of 20-30 folks. I have seen and heard too often members complaining about the service and food at these affairs.

Surprise! These are not gourmet dinners in Palm Beach. We go to a convenient restaurant that’s nice enough to give us our own section and a couple of waitresses. Someone will be served first and someone will be served last; some of you really enjoy your meal and some may not. But the quality of the meal is really secondary to the shared experience of us all being together for a fun weekend/evening. I have seen waitresses being brought to tears by the complaining of our members. People send meals back, others sit there griping about the food or service making others around them feel uncomfortable.

I agree that you pay for good food and good service – absolutely, but most restaurants are not geared up to prepare and service 20-30 folks at one time.

My suggestion is to lighten up, enjoy your friends and order a salad.

NPBYC --- “What is the Uniform?”“Uniform?”

 Winter Uniform
Blue blazer with a club “badge”, “patch” or one of our new pocket emblems, club tie, white pants/skirt, white shoes. (We use white because we’re in what was once considered the tropics). We also now have ties for the ladies winter uniform in addition to our men’s ties. Optional are our newly designed logo epau-lets (shoulder boards). Contact Pat Collins for purchasing information.

Summer Uniform

Informal, a white short-sleeved shirt with white pants/skirt and shoes no Jackets & ties .

Do you have to wear “the uniform?” No, but you should. Yacht clubs are the most traditional of all clubs. By joining NPBYC, you became part of that heritage. It’s something to be proud of and to cherish. Show people that you are part of the team; that you care about our Club
